“The change to a base coat color and HDT clear really adds depth to the color as well as brightness,” commented Kevin Kramer, Captain/Project Manager for the Marlinda. “The most noticeable improvement has been the red boot strip along the side – what used to be a bland accent is now a glistening complement to the vibrant blue of the hull.”

“Our goal was to find a solution to the premature fading of darker colors, with a coating that could be repaired if necessary. The product has already exceeded our expectations in terms of appearance; it’s even smoother than we expected, with minimal orange peel, elevated gloss levels, no signs of micro-scratching and really exceptional distinction of image.”

The Marlinda was built in 1989 by Delta Marine at their Seattle shipyard, but following the refinishing you would hardly think the craft was approaching its 30th birthday, thanks to the great appearance of Awlgrip HDT. The superyacht was coated by Diamond Painting, who also applied the re-coat in late 2017 and were also impressed with the results.
