Latest Yacht Paint Application Center opens

Awlgrip is pleased to announce the official opening of the latest Yacht Paint Application Center (YPAC) in its ever-growing training network.

Located in Moordrecht, Holland the new YPAC is the fourth dedicated, full-time training facility of world leading manufacturer of yacht coatings, Awlgrip, following the 2010 opening of its Florida facility. The new Center will run training courses on Awlgrip products and systems, covering a wide range of areas within these, such as achieving the finest finish through best practices on preparation and application, health and safety guidance in all aspects of application, and Personal Protective Equipment requirements. Awlgrip will also be offering bespoke programs tailored to individual requirements.

Awlgrip is committed to investing in training and this new YPAC further expands on the success of the previous three global facilities. The modern, high tech building, split into two levels, houses a state-of-the-art application booth, tailor-made material and preparation areas (housed independently to prevent cross-contamination) on the ground floor with office space, break-out area and a large classroom on the first floor.

Ergonomically and efficiently designed, the YPAC features the latest in application, preparation and Health and Safety equipment and can accommodate large groups with ease. The large application booth also provides attendees the ability to paint a real boat shell, itself easily housed in the ground floor preparation area.

Awlgrip also has Yacht Paint Application Centers in Southampton, United Kingdom, Viareggio, Italy, as well as the previously noted Florida facility. Continuing their investment in training and education, Awlgrip are currently planning to open a fifth Center, to be located on the East Coast of Australia.

The Awlgrip training courses are available for all customers, such as applicators, paint foremen, new project managers, specifiers and yards, no matter what their role is within the industry. In instances when customers require training for specific projects, Awlgrip experts also provide hands-on technical training and support on-site at the customer’s premises.

Speaking from the new Center in Holland, Global Technical & Commercial Services Manager, Derrick Nowak comments: “Awlgrip is dedicated to working together with all our customers, old and new, locally and globally, to give them as much training and assistance with Awlgrip products as we can. Our dedicated Yacht Paint Application Centers allow us to give participants the opportunity to find out more about products that are particularly relevant to their operations as well as discuss their own procedures. We also give practical training to help optimize participants’ own processes and ultimately help them achieve superior finishes. We provide instruction on surface preparation, coatings systems, equipment, spray gun set-up and various other tips.”

As well as the four YPAC facilities, Awlgrip provides local, personalized service to customers via its global network of trained distributors and Awlgrip experts, from sales support right through to on-site technical support and guidance.
