We are delighted to report that Chopi Chopi, the stunning 80m megayacht built by Italian shipyard CRN, has been crowned a winner at the recent Superyacht Awards, held in Amsterdam on 3rd May 2014. The awards which are in their 9th year, are the most coveted trophies in the superyacht industry and celebrate the finest new superyacht builds delivered to their owners in the last 12 months.
Chopi Chopi was honored with the prestigious "Judges Commendation" - awarded in the category of displacement motoryacht of 2,000 GT and above. Having already won an award at the Showboats Design Awards, Chopi Chopi has now won this special accolade that the jury of the World Superyacht Awards reserves for the megayacht that stood out from the rest of the world yachting scene in 2013 in terms of characteristics, innovation, and design.
Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman and CEO of CRN, accepted the award along with the team from CRN and architectural firm Zuccon International Project, who created the exterior profile, and Laura Sessa Studio, who designed the concept and the Interiors, together with CRN Design & Decor. Upon accepting, Tacoli commented that "Chopi Chopi, in addition to perfectly representing the commitment and the passion that have characterized the shipyard of Ancona for 50 years, brings prestige to our Italian Nautical Scene and will be a great stimulus for continuing our fascinating and demanding work."
For this groundbreaking build, the market leading Awlgrip Topcoat was chosen by CRN to deliver an unrivaled finish. The crisp, sleek gloss of Eggshell White on the topsides and Snow White on the superstructure provide the perfect finish, complimenting the beauty and elegant design of Chopi Chopi.
One of the largest megayachts ever built in Italy, Chopi Chopi is a steel and aluminum displacement hull yacht. Along with the glistening Awlgrip Topcoat finish, a full Awlgrip system was used on the superstructure and topsides, delivering the prestige performance required by CRN and the owners. Chopi Chopi has 6 decks: A lower deck for the crew, engine room, and a garage, a main deck for guests, an upper deck containing a living area and bar, the owner deck, sun deck, and a sub lower deck, which is essentially a technical area featuring systems and equipment.
As a world leader in yacht professional topside paint, we at Awlgrip are proud to be part of such an exceptional build and congratulate all at CRN on this wonderful achievement!
